Dugong (dugong dugon) is a marine mammal that consumes seagrass. Dugong is often associated with myth or legend about mermaids.
Primarily, dugong spreads across the tropical and subtropical ocean in the Indo-Pacific area. However, nowadays the number of dugong found in the ocean is declining. According to IUCN (International Union for the Conservation of Nature), dugong has been categorized as a vulnerable to extinction animal.
In Indonesia, dugong has been protected under constitution No. 7 (1999) on the conservation of flora and fauna. Ranger, let's protect our ocean from plastic pollution because it can threaten the lives of dugongs.
